As a part of the yearly tradition when it comes to the Christmas season, people wake up at 4a.m. to attend the most awaited Simbang Gabi.

Despite having a very tiring day, the Catholic people still manage to get up early and prepare for the gospel of the priests.

The traditional Simbang Gabi lasts for 9 days consisting of 9 masses in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Starting from December 16 to 24.

Catholic Participates In The Simbang Gabi

On the last day of the Simbang Gabi which is also the Christmas Eve, the mass is called Misa de Gallo.

The origin of Simbang Gabi goes back to the time when the Spaniards ruled over the Filipinos. We adapted to their practices and was able to have it until now.

It is one of the great traditions that Filipinos have. Usually after the mass, the people tend to feast out eating bibingka, putubumbong, arroz caldo and even street foods. It is also a way of celebrating each day that they have.
