As the time goes by, people have been destructing the nature that we need because of the selfish commodities that we think are vital to our lives. We tend to forget that the most important thing that we need is the planet in which we live our lives.
The Philippine Eagle is one of the critically endangered animals in the Philippines. Their number has decreased so much that the Philippine Eagle Foundation needed to battle the extinction.
A good news came in their way as a Philippine Eagle chick hatched while it was in their captivity.
It was the first time in two years that a chick of a Philippine Eagle hatched. It was the 26th chick hatched in the span of 23 years, according to the curator of the foundation named Anna Mae Sumaya.
"This gives us hope that we can somehow supplement the Philippine eagle population," she added.
A total of 600 Philippine Eagles are left in the wild while the other 34 are in a massive cage.
Nine out of ten deaths of the Philippine Eagles are because of gunshots which is the reason why it is now critically endangered.
The eagles mate once a year, resulting only to one egg per pair to be made. There were 3 eggs that were laid by the 4 breeding pairs. However, the other 2 were infertile and was not able to hatch.
