The Senate unanimously voted to pass the third and the last reading of the Salary Standardization Law that was sponsored by Senator Antonio Trillanes IV. 

This bill aims to give a raise the compensation system of the employees of the governments such as the teachers, soldiers and nurses. It will be effective the next year. 

A total of fourteen Senators approved the Senate Bill No. 2671. The list of senators that passed the bill are as follows:

The new compensation system aims to bring the government officials' rates closer to the rates of the private sectors. 

Trillanes said, “This means government personnel like nurses who are currently receiving P24,887 per month (under Salary Grade 15) will have their salaries raised to P26,192 next year. In the final year of the SSL, their monthly salaries will have been raised to P30,531."

The additional in the standard wage is not the only added compensation. The bill also introduces mid-year bonuses, 14th month pay and another enhanced performance-based bonus which can amount up to the double of their monthly pay.

According to the Senate President Franklin Drilon, this will also entice the workers of the private sectors to the public sectors because of the competitive compensation

He also added that they will be submitting the bill to the Palace so that the President Benigno Aquino III could sign it before the end of the year.
