After the disqualification of Grace Poe because of the inconsistency with the years that she had been staying in the country, now the Comelec is questioning the substitution of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
Senator Grace Poe said that she is praying that the Davao City Mayor will not be taken out of the Presidential Race.
Ay sana huwag naman. Ang dasal ko ay huwag siyang madisqualify. Ang dasal ko ay mabigyan siya ng pagkakataon na tumakbo kasi yun naman yung pinaglalaban natin, manalo siya, o kung ano, pero hindi natin malalaman iyan hangga't hindi natin ilalagay ang pangalan sa balota,'' said Poe.
She mentioned this on the 11th death anniversary commemoration of her father, Fernando Poe Jr who ran as a president as well.
Duterte's name being included in the list of presidential candidates that will be appearing on the ballots is not yet official as his substitution to Martin Dino is still being questioned by the Commission on Election.
A man named Ruben Castor said that the Comelec needs to nullify the Certificate of Candidacy of Dino since it first indicated that he will be running as the Mayor of Pasay City.
Before, Mayor Duterte criticized the decision of Grace Poe to run as a president. He claims that he could not stand having an American Citizen rule the Philippines. But Duterte said that his decision to run for president is not about Grace Poe anymore.
